Instead, I had to install opensc (an alternative to coolkey) in the command line, then go into Firefox's settings, "unload" the previous coolkey module (should have been located at /usr/lib/pkcs11/libcoolkeypk11.so), then "load" the opensc module, which should be located at usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/opensc-pkcs11.so. (Remember to close/restart your browser on each attempt). After entering my pin, the page would refresh and the dreaded "No client certificate presented" error was there. It was not reading any of the certificates on the card in any event. As it turns out, Firefox does NOT play well with coolkey (or, it may be that coolkey cannot read PIV certificates). NOTE that for the IOGear GSR202, the site says that certain serial numbers will not work with G+D FIPS 201 SCE 7.0, although my reader is from 2015 and the serial number is outside the supposed working range, my CAC is a FIPS 201 card, and it still works. Here is a list of CAC readers and hopefully whether or not they work. I have tested both the IOGear GSR202 and the SCM Microsystems SCR-3310 and they work fine for me.
